This hard drive cable works with all Toshiba hard drives used in the iPod 3rd Generation models including the 10gb/15gb MK1504GAL, 20gb MK2004GAL, MK3004GAH 30gb and 40gb MK4004GAH. This cable connects the hard drive to the logic board.
This cable can fix issues related to a hard drive that does not spin-up or a device that shows the sad face or folder icon because of failed communication with the hard drive via this cable. If the screen shows a folder icon or will not move past the Apple logo, and can hear the hard drive clicking, chances are the hard drive itself needs to be replaced.
